We have been planning about our last summer hurray for the past 3 weeks. It was a good timing that Talima Adventure and Water Resort just opened at Olango Island in Mactan.
We took a banca ride thru Punta Engaño Port (near Hilton Resort and Spa) and left at 8:30 and paid 50/head. It was just a short 10-minute ride going to the island.
I must say the food prices was abit more expensive (approx 30-40% more). An order of 3 pork bellies, 3 chicken barbecues and 4 pork barbecues cost us 495php and it still does not include rice and drinks. And oh it still does not include the fish, drinks and puso (rice).
We were the first batch of people who got there so we were lucky to find a good spot with shade plus we get to have those not-so-typical life vest. The entrance fee is 100php that includes the use of life vest.
Unlimited use of these will cost you 250php.
Since the sea was not-so friendly then, we decided to try the pool located on the adjacent resort (I think its of the same name) for only 100php.
After a sumptous brunch we decided to take a dip on the beach. The sea wasnt what we have expected it to be. It was low tide then so we ended up walking to get to the deep part of the sea which wasnt such a good idea at all. The seabed was muddy that everytime you take a step the water would turn blurry (err, more like that of floodwater ahaha). A friend got so unlucky that his foot ended up stuck in the seabed and tried to pull it only to see get his slipper broken. Good thing he brought another pair of footwear. So I suggest if you are to go there, aqua shoes is a must. The experience could have been better if it was high tide and coud have maximized the use of the life vest. You can barely feel the sea breeze too (probably because its facing the island of Mactan not the open sea?). We cooled ourselves with softdrinks and Thirsty shakes (also available at Talima).Left the resort at 1:30pm and docked at the port around 2pm. We were transferred from a smaller banca going to a bigger banca that had took us back to the island.
We also dropped by the newly-opened Gaisano Mall and had a late lunch at Greenwich.
Love this pic taken by Iris.
